Early in my career I earned an MBA from Wake Forest, and the CFA charter from the CFA institute. I then founded a small investment management company. I ran that company for fifteen years, working as a portfolio manager and managing all aspects of the business. 

During that time I became a parent of two daughters, and I became actively involved in their education. I also became a youth soccer coach. Those two things changed the trajectory of my career. I came to realize that I love being around kids and watching them learn and grow. During my youngest child's senior year of high school I began the transition into middle school mathematics education where I have worked for the last ten years.
